A: Most Woodland Roots courses are for ages 11 and older, including adults. We occasionally run sessions for younger children as part of holiday clubs or bespoke group bookings.

A: Yes. Our “Bushcraft at your event” option allows us to bring bushcraft and outdoor skills to your site — ideal for festivals, retreats, or community events.
Safety, Qualifications & Insurance
Q: Are your instructors qualified?
A: Yes. All Woodland Roots instructors are qualified and experienced bushcraft leaders with backgrounds in outdoor education and survival skills.
Q: Do your instructors hold first aid qualifications?
A: Every instructor is Outdoor First Aid qualified, ensuring they can manage incidents safely and appropriately in outdoor settings.
Q: Are your sessions insured?
A: Yes. Woodland Roots holds Public Liability Insurance up to £10 million. We carry out detailed risk assessments for all sessions and maintain high safety standards in everything we do.
Q: How do you ensure participant safety?
A: Group sizes and instructor numbers are always safe and appropriate for the activities taking place. Each session is carefully planned and supervised to provide a secure, supportive environment for all participants.
Practical Information
Q: Where do sessions take place?
A: Most sessions are held in private woodland on the Llanforda Estate near Oswestry, though we also work at other approved woodland sites and outdoor venues across Shropshire.
Q: What should participants bring?
A: Dress for the outdoors — sturdy footwear, waterproofs, and comfortable layers. Bring a drink and any personal items you may need. All bushcraft equipment and materials are provided.
Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: We run sessions in most weather conditions and adapt activities as needed. Only in extreme or unsafe weather would a session be postponed or cancelled.
Q: How do I book a session?
A: You can book directly through our website for any publicly available courses — such as our half-day and full-day bushcraft courses.
