SESSION OVERVIEW

Our Hammock Bushcraft Overnight is designed for adults seeking a focused, immersive woodland experience to deepen their practical wilderness skills and reconnect with nature.

Set within our private woodland on the Llanforda Estate, this session gives you dedicated time to master hammock suspended setups, tarp pitch geometries, tool use, and traditional firecraft. After building and securing your sleeping system between the trees, we gather around the fire to prepare and cook a hearty evening meal over open flames. Enjoy an evening of traditional campcraft and storytelling in the woods before turning in to sleep elevated under canvas, waking to a freshly brewed campfire breakfast before packing down Leave No Trace style.

WHAT HAPPENS ACROSS THE OVERNIGHT CAMP

  • Hammock & Tarp Rigging: Master tree selection, knotcraft (ridge lines, friction hitches), and tensioning systems to set up a comfortable hammock and tarp rig.

  • Tool Skills & Green Woodworking: Learn safe knife and saw techniques to craft essential camp items, pot hangers, or tent pegs.

  • Fire Lighting & Campfire Cooking: Sourcing tinders, spark-based fire starting, and managing coals to prepare and cook a delicious campfire dinner.

  • Evening Campcraft & Morning Pack-Down: Put your skills into practice around the fire, enjoy the nocturnal woodland atmosphere, and wake to a freshly brewed campfire breakfast before packing down Leave No Trace style.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does the "Sharing Tarp Setup" rate work for hammocks?

Sharing applies to pairs or couples booking together. To ensure a good night's sleep, each person gets their own dedicated hammock, pitched side-by-side or tandem style under a shared tarp system and camp bay setup.

  • Do I need prior bushcraft or hammock experience?

No experience is required. We teach you all setup techniques step-by-step, including knot tying, hammock hanging, and fire building.

  • What if I get cold in a hammock?

Hammocks require insulation underneath. We guide you on proper under-insulation (using roll mats or underquilts) and provide weather-appropriate advice to ensure a warm, comfortable night's sleep.

  • Can I bring my own hammock or tarp kit?

Yes! You are welcome to use our hammock setups or bring your own kit if you want to practice with your personal gear.

  • Are toilet and washing facilities available?

Yes, there is a basic hand-washing station and toilet facilities at the woodland site.

  • What happens in bad weather?

We run in most weather conditions, as learning to pitch tarps effectively in wind and rain is a core bushcraft skill. If extreme conditions (e.g., severe gales or lightning) compromise safety, we will contact you to reschedule or refund.
