Home Education Pathway
Progressive, fortnightly woodland sessions for ages 8–12 and 12–16.
Building mastery through a long-term seasonal journey.
The Home Education Pathway is a structured, long-term programme where young people build confidence, develop practical skills, and spend meaningful time outdoors. Sessions combine bushcraft, navigation, and nature stewardship with challenges that encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and independence.
Unlike one-off workshops, this is a progressive pathway where participants develop skills over time within a consistent group. By meeting fortnightly, we allow for deep skill retention and meaningful social connection, making it a sustainable and high-value addition to your home education journey.
The Membership Model
The Pathway is designed as a continuous membership experience to support long-term skill development and social consistency.
⚡ Seasonal Mastery: Each season focuses on a core theme, culminating in a Mastery Award (e.g., The Navigator) that recognizes the specific skills gained.
🤝 Social Consistency: Membership ensures your child stays with their established peer group, fostering long-term friendships.
☕ The Brew Station: As a parent/guardian must remain on-site, we provide a complimentary hot drinks station for you to relax and connect with other families while we work.
📅 Priority Enrolment: Once a member of the Pathway, your child holds 'first refusal' on their space for all future seasonal blocks.
What Young People Will Gain
Build Confidence: Gain comfort and capability in outdoor environments.
Practical Skills: Learn real-world survival and bushcraft skills.
Independence: Develop autonomy and decision-making abilities.
Teamwork: Improve communication and collaborative problem-solving.

What People Say About Woodland Roots
FAQs
Do participants need prior experience?
No. Sessions are supportive and skills are introduced step-by-step. New members can join at the start of any seasonal block regardless of their previous experience.
What is the "Mastery Award"?
At the end of each season, we celebrate the skills learned. It’s a tangible recognition of your child’s progress through the Pathway.
Do sessions run in all weather?
Yes. We run in most conditions as part of the outdoor experience, though we will contact you in advance regarding extreme weather.
Do parents/guardians need to stay?
Yes. A parent or guardian must remain on-site throughout the session. We’ve created the Woodland Brew Station specifically as a social hub for you—bring a camping chair, grab a hot drink, and enjoy the peace of the woods while your child learns.
How does enrolment work?
This is a seasonal programme. Once joined, you receive priority access to secure your child’s space for all future blocks before they open to the public.
How much does it cost?
Sessions are £17 each. We book in seasonal blocks to keep the group consistent. If you join midway through a block, you only pay for the remaining sessions.
What happens if we miss a session?
As spaces are strictly limited and booked in blocks, we cannot offer refunds for individual missed sessions. However, we recap skills fortnightly so no one falls behind.
How do I secure a spot?
Select your age group and enrol for the current introductory sessions via the booking buttons above. Space is limited to 6 participants per group to ensure personal guidance.
